Some difficulties of the road

After having a silent day in Denpasar (Bali) I had to leave there on 8th March early in the morning. I was planning to ride to the port between Bali and Java which was about 130km and from there drive a bus to Jakarta to be in Jakarta at 9th to do my work and then follow my administration work at 10th due to my visa was running out at 11th March and still there was no news from Australian embassy for my visa. So just I had to sleep early and pack my bags at night and just I would like to take my bicycle early morning and not having ant work to do then.

Bali and Nyepi

I arrived in Bali on a very special day which was the Hindu New Year, which they call Hari Raya Nyepi. It is a very special day and the Balinese have a very unique ceremony during that day, which I will explain.

I arrived to the town when I was so tired and hungry but I had something important to do so I did not eat and I just went directly to the harbor to see if there is any ship going to NZ and as I already suspected before there was none.

I arrived in Bali

I had just a few days time before my Indonesian visa runs out and I had to rush and cycle as much and as fast as possible. I just realized that February has only 29 days and so I am short of 2 days from my calculation as I thought it has 31 days. So it means that I have to kill myself cycling to reach Bali and come back again to Jakarta before my visa expires.

Climbing Mount Arjuna

As I wrote before I had someone to host me in Jakarta who is Arianne, a Filipino lady living in Indonesia. When I lodged my documents for Australia and New Zealand, I had plenty of time in Jakarta, so she invited me to accompany her to a trekking program held by a group of people working for Conoco-Phillips.

The mountain we were going to climb is a mountain in East Java called Mount Arjuna. A 3339m volcano near Malang city and about 1000km far from Jakarta.

Yogjakarta

The last day of cycling before Jogjakarta was an easy day and just I had to cycle for about 60km. I began to cycle quite late about 7am because I was working the night before and slept late. I knew that I will have a day of rest in Jogjakarta so I decided to push myself and test my body performance and also my heart performance. So just I cycled very hard like when I was doing during my training years. For 2 hours just I pushed myself and I worked very hard thats why I arrived to the town around 10am.

Cycling to Jogjakarta

My Indonesian visa is expiring on March 11, 2008 and I have to leave the country before that. I just realized that February is 29 days and that I was running out of time. I have to cycle to Bali and reach there before March 6 as March 7 is a holiday which is the Hindu New Year and day of silence (Hari Raya Nyepi). During Nyepi, there is no electricity in the whole town and no activity is allowed. From Jakarta to Bandung, which is the next city after Jakarta, it is about 200km by the toll road but the bicycle is not allowed to enter the highways in Indonesia and I had to take another road which is almost 2 times farther than that road so to save time Arianne asked her driver to take me to Bandung and I actually began to cycle from Bandung.

I have been in Tehran for a long time which is absolutely not my style. It is getting too much and I am ready to leave now.
I should start standing on my own feet and move on to create something. Hardly I can create something while I am stuck somewhere.
Tonight I am going to pack to stat cycling through Iran.
