Cycling through Arlberg pass in winter

After finishing the weekend with Claus, I knew that on Monday it would be snowing. In one moment, I thought to leave on Tuesday but I received an email from Aleksandra a friend of mine in Imst that on Tuesday morning I had a school. So, Monday was the only time I had to leave. I have to be there on Monday evening.
There is no way because I had a school Tuesday morning in Landeck. But the problem was I had 110 or 120 kms to Roppen and it was quite impossible to do in one day in a snowy day and I had to go to over the path which was impossible to do it in one day.

Back to Switzerland to continue life on the road

I flow back to Zurich after 4 weeks.
exactly 4 weeks I was there, in Asian side of Anatolian city, Istanbul. I was staying with Amy a friend Rachelle. However she was in US 2 weeks and I was there alone with two cats, a very nice one and an annoying one who just kills your nerves. But I was ok with it and I was doing my work in the room, so I more was feeling pity for the cat who likes to play and didn’t have good company to play.
my flight was at 14:05 on February 19 and I had to carry all my bags again in the same way as I went there. I had to check in just one bag up to 23km, so I had to grab all my bags with my mattress and use a whole pack of tape to hold it.  Then it was an un convenient thing to carry plus my camera bag, handle bar bag and a plastic bag!!
honestly it was hard and the worth thing I had to change public transport 4 times!! I had no way!!

Workshop in VMS school Frastanz

I have met Klaus while I was almost stuck in snow in Alberg pass and he gave me a lift. Then he invited me to stay with him for a night and now after 2 months from that day I am back again here to meet him and have some lovely day with him.
Clemens who is Klaus’s son helped me to contact his school and they also kindly accepted me to have a workshop in the school. I was actually planning to leave a day earlier but having this chance of visiting school was enough to stay longer and spend some lovely time with students.
Today in the morning Clemens came to pick me and we went to his class

Last days in Austria

I was in Klaus house for a night and next day it was still raining. Klaus told me he can send me to Alberschwende, where Aurelia’s parents live and I was planning to go and visit them.
next day I was actually thinking if the rain stop, then I will cycle to Alberschwende which was about 40km…I was checking the weather every 15min to see how it looks, but Klaus’s mother came and asked me if I like fish or not?!! It means that she was going to prepare something for lunch and it also means I just forgot about cycling to appreciate being with some lovely people.
The reason I am cycling is to meet people and stay with them, live and learn from them and I just use bicycle as a mean of transport.

Planting tree in a primary school in Egg ( Bregenswild )

When I was in Vienna, Aurelia was trying to find a school for my project and she contacted some schools and teachers.
Elisabeth Schwarz who is a teacher in a primary school in Egg in Bregenswile region kindly responded and I went there for our tree planting.
The weather was not fine for a tree planting and we had just our workshop and talking to kids and we just took a tree in a pot as a symbol of our work and also they promissed to plant it when the season is fine for tree planting.

I have a big respect for Aurelia and Elisabeth´s help and support to this project.

Cycling through the last part of mountain in Austria

In Innsbruck I didn’t have any school to visit or anything to do, I just wanted to have rest and get refresh again.
Mirjam was living in a hill which is faced to the city and I could see all the city at night which was amazing.
I arrived there tired but she said that she has a meeting with some friends and if I am interested to join we can go together. I was tired but there was a chance to meet new people and of course new experiences, so it was the purpose of my journey so, I quickly took a shower and we went there.

At night I just died but like all the time after having a tough day I couldn’t sleep well. Usually I cant sleep very well after a hard day or when I am in my tent for a couple of days.

Cycling in winter...some hard challenges!!

After 2 nights staying in Linz I left there. It was great staying with Annett who is Auralia’s aunt and her family.
they were just great people.
I loaded my bike and hugged them and said goodbye to them. the street was still white and a bit cold but I was glad to be on the road again riding my bike and looking forward to go through new places and specially some mountains.
I had 15km to Linz and I should cross the city with a little map I had from the town. Anyway it took me 1 hour to cross the town and then I was on the road again heading south west. I was following the main road because the bicycle path was full of snow and hard to ride but luckily the road was not so busy and annoying.
I knew I would have 2 light days to Salzburg but still I didn’t have anyone in Salzburg to stay with.  So I decided to stay one night by a lake 90km

Cycling from Vienna to Linz along the Danube

After 3 days in Vienna I was ready to leave again. In fact it was a couple of days with not much cycling. 4 days in Budapest, 2 days in Bratislava and 3 days also in Vienna and I had just a day for cycling from Bratislava to Vienna with James.
if I wouldn’t have even that day then it would be hard again to get fit but having a ride within those days was fine enough to keep my legs turning pedals.
Always when I am going to face a hard ride, I am not in hurry and I let everything goes very smooth and from Vienna I knew I will have some hard days ahead so I was relax and didn’t leave the house early.
a night before I leave I was checking the map with Aurelia to find out which route is better to take,
